Tippecanoe School Corporation, Director of Technology and Media, August 1994.
In this position I supervise the instructional and administrative operation
of numerous networked computer labs, the educational computer program of
TSC, and the administrative wide area network on an iSeries/400. I am responsible
for the Internet implementation throughout the district. I also develop the
staff development program for the district and conduct portions of it.

Previous Experience:
-
I have twenty-six years of experience in public education. My positions
range from a resource teacher for a gifted and talented program at the middle
school, a middle school/junior high library media specialist, computer
coordinator for another school district, junior high English teacher, visiting
professors at University of North Dakota and University of South Carolina,
as well as computer education and English composition instructor at Purdue
University. In addition, I have worked as an educational consultant and trainer
for IBM.

Presentations and Speeches:

I have given over 250 speeches and 120 workshops ranging from presentations
at the Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development annual conference,
American Association of School Librarians conferences, National Educational
Computing Conference, and American Library Association to state library media
conferences and computer conventions in South Carolina, Maryland, North Dakota,
Oklahoma, Kentucky, Illinois, Michigan, Kansas, and Indiana. I am also giving
Internet workshops for the Bureau of Education & Research throughout
the US.

Workshops and Training:

I have been doing computer training since 1981 with adult learners. Training
sessions were conducted in school systems in North Dakota, South Carolina,
Michigan, Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, and Indiana. The staff development model I use has been used
successfully with over 4,200 teachers across the nation. I am currently doing
Internet and tool software training.
In addition I do technology integration workshops for the Bureau of
Education & Research.

Publications:

I have written a book, The Media Specialist, The Microcomputer, and
The Curriculum, which was published by Libraries Unlimited in 1983.
In addition, I have written over 75 other publications which have been published
in Technology & Learning, Classroom Computer Learning, Electronic
Learning, School Library Journal, Booklist, Teacher Librarian, NASSP Curriculum
Reports, School Library Activities Monthly, The Computing Teacher, Journal
of Computers in Mathematics and Science Teaching, English Journal, as
well as other national and state publications. This writing includes an Internet
column for Emergency Librarian and an Internet Update for the
November/December 1995 issue of Technology and Learning. I have also
published two books in 1998World Desk: A Classroom Internet
Guide and The Internet: A Curriculum Oriented Guide. I
have published additional books Integrating Technology
& the Internet Into the English and Social Studies Classroom (2001),
and Using innovative Technology Projects to Strengthen Content Area
Learning (2005).

Organizations:

I am a member of the International Society for Technology Educators, the
American Library Association, and the American Association of School Librarians.
I have served as Vice-President and Secretary of the American Association
of School Librarians.

Consulting:
-
I have worked for the Educational Testing Service on the redesign of educational
software, Films Inc. and PC Globe Inc. on the production of teacher and student
workbooks, and Grolier Publications on the development of a software program
and workbook for use with social studies classes. In addition, I have served
as an educational consultant for IBM and a local Internet provider.

Professional Honors:

I have served as a grant reviewer for the U.S. Department of Education and
have been a member of a telecommunications discussion panel for the U.S.
DOE. I am also a member of Phi Beta Kappa. In addition, I was a finalist
for the North Dakota teacher of the year and have received the Purdue
University College of Education Distinguished Alumni Award in 2003. I am listed in Whos
Who in American Women, Whos Who in Emerging Leaders,
Whos Who in Education, and Whos Who in
America.
